About Tamarisk

Tamarisk was started in 2008 by a group of parents looking after toddlers. We began meeting and rehearsing songs while our children played.

After our first tentative performance upstairs in a local café we went on to perform in Derby Cathedral, Calke Abbey, Sudbury Hall and The National Memorial Arboretum.

We have collaborated with local storytellers and photo archives to create sell-out shows as well as organising our own concerts with special guest artists including a former BBC Young Musician finalist and a former BBC Choirgirl Of The Year.

We are regularly asked to sing at weddings and corporate events.

In 2014 we devised our Family Concerts to engage with younger audience members by encouraging them to join us on-stage to make music. At these concerts we have created an orchestra of young people which performed Mozart’s Variations on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, we have performed Peter And The Wolf and Mozart's Toy Symphony as well as original stories using music, narration and masks.

Any money we make goes to charity. For the past couple of years we have supported Jessie’s Fund, a UK based charity which provides music therapy for children in special schools, hospitals, hospices and other settings. So far we have raised over £5000 for this good cause.

Lately we have been raising money for the Disaster's Emergency Committee's Ukraine appeal.

If you would like Tamarisk to perform in your venue or at your event please free to contact us to find out more.
